About the Maker:

I make hand-thrown tableware, primarily using stoneware clay. My work is functional, simple and designed to be used and enjoyed.

All my pieces use unique glazes that are created from scratch and are developed by experimenting with materials. I source local raw materials and process them by hand so they can be incorporated within the work in glazes and slips. I collect wild clays, which are applied to pieces as a decorative slip or incorporated into glazes. I am particularly interested in ash glazes and use locally sourced wood ash from restaurant ovens and the fireplaces of friends and family as an ingredient.

Subtle variations in the pieces highlight the qualities of the rocks and minerals within both the clay bodies and glazes. All items are handmade and show the marks of this process. As a result, each piece is a one-off, no two are exactly the same.
