Description
Handwoven scarf
This scarf has been handwoven by Jade Ogden in the Mendips, Somerset. It’s made with undyed soft Romney and Shetland wools, in brown, pale grey and deep grey, from sheep that have been holistically and regeneratively reared on the Mendip Hills. It also features the same regenerative wool that has been dyed with madder root, a dyestuff that has been used since ancient times. The deeper purple wool is from New Lanarkshire Mill in Scotland, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The regenerative wool comes from Fernhill Farm, high on the Mendip Hills where the sheep are farmed in nomadic style flocks that actively increase the biodiversity of the natural environment. The are proud to have ‘A Greener World’ accreditation for their farming.
Handweaving is a slow, methodical process creating textile pieces that are intended to be treasured for many years to come.
The scarf measures 20cm x 188m (incl. tassels)
