About the Maker:
Sophie works in her garden studio in Cambridge, using a mixture of stoneware and earthenware clays to create her one-of-a-kind pieces. She loves how the toasted tone of the stoneware clay she sources brings a visual warmth to the home, and how that, combined with the white slip, frames the depth of her oxide decorations. She regularly finds inspiration in the museum collections of medieval pottery, such as jug handles, which subtly inform many of her works. Sophie loves to play with form, taking inspiration from the handmade contours and silhouettes often found in medieval pottery, and the freedom evoked in Polish 'Cepelia' (folk) patterns. She signs her work with her Polish name, Zosia
