Jane Tyler is an artist who works from her garden studio near the village of Wadhurst in the south of England. Inspiration for her art comes from having lived, studied, worked and started a family around the world in countries such as Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, The Philippines, Canada and Italy. Jane graduated from University of the Arts London in Practice & Theory: Art & Design, with a focus on painting and collage. She first experimented with ceramics while living in Kobe, Japan in the 1980s, and in recent years has rediscovered her love for the material. Jane enjoys the freedom of handbuilding, creating unusual vessels and sculptural forms, primarily in stoneware. At times she uses clay as a 3D canvas for more detailed painting, and likes to imbue her work with a sense of joy and humour.
