Description

Handwoven scarf

This scarf has been handwoven by Jade Ogden in the Mendips, Somerset. It’s made with an undyed soft Romney and Shetland wools, in brown, pale grey and deep grey, from sheep that have been holistically and regeneratively reared on the Mendip Hills. It also features the same regenerative wool that has been dyed in Bristol with coreopsis flowers, wild foraged weld and homegrown madder root, a dyestuff that has been used since ancient times.

The regenerative wool comes from Fernhill Farm, high on the Mendip Hills where the sheep are farmed in nomadic style flocks that actively increase the biodiversity of the natural environment. The are proud to have ‘A Greener World’ accreditation for their farming. This scarf represents a fully circular, soil-to-soil textile, that can be safely returned to nourish the earth at the end of its long life.

Handweaving is a slow, methodical process creating textile pieces that are intended to be treasured for many years to come.

The scarf measures 20cm x 188m (incl. tassels)

Handwash with care
