Couper et Coudre specialises in handcrafted vegetable tanned leather bags and accessories. Every item is consciously handcrafted using only natural and sustainable materials. Making bags to amplify your everyday, carry your personal belongings and keep you organised. Materials are chosen that will age beautifully and gather tales of a life well lived. Couper et Coudre comes from the French verbs meaning 'to cut' & 'to sew'. The company was founded by Fleurie Thomas in 2017. After studying Textile Design at Central Saint Martins and working in the Interiors industry for a number of years she decided to mix the study of materials, space and shapes to make designs for people who are looking for well made products that get better with age and looking for special pieces to use for many years to come. Only vegetable tanned leather and Organic materials are used to create all Couper et Coudre designs. Vegetable tanned leather is a bi-product of the meat industry and tanned with tree barks and leaves. No toxic chemicals are used in the tanning process and the leather is bio-degradable at the end of it's long life. Every hide is unique which means every bag or accessory will be one of a kind. The pieces are crafted using traditional leather tools mainly stitched by hand using traditional leathersmith techniques; this means every customer receives an item that has been lovingly handmade from start to finish. Every bag and accessory is handmade by Fleur in Somerset, England
